I love 'Rhapsody". I have read the books and this song makes me cry each time. I just wish I could hear the whole song :(

"Dream Big" is probably most awesome song on your new CD (in my opinion)...The next song really rocks, too...
When I first heard "Easier Said Than Done," perhaps I didn't have time to hear in entirety, or at least hear -well-... and my reaction was something like: "Well, you just can't beat AMOS live." A few days later though is when I really got into the two songs mentioned above... then, the fever was back The music business is, of course, anything but rational, but I hope you all go far... (I'm a pretty die-hard fan of this band and fellow fans can frequently find me for live chat about their music and other things at my own related site at "LChat.org/AMOS" ...) |

Very professional. I think that track 6 is the radio track if I had to choose one.

I've seen you twice randomly at TT's. I just walked in once and there you were. The second time I heard you on the street and barged in. The stuff on the site is great. I can't wait to hear the whole thing. When are you playing locally again?
AMOS answers: Soon, Emma, soon. We're putting together a big show for our official CD "release," but should have some more regular gigs soon, including TT's. Thank you for your kind words! |

Great job. The songs are really clear and crafty. Ed's vocals are tight as hell. The performances are great. I love the textures and the 80's retro guitar sounds. Laura's vocals are sweet icing on "What's Behind the Door?". "Reasons" is a really fun Smithereen-esque rocker. "Signs" kind of puts me in a dreamy familiar place. "This Could Take a While" is arena rock ready - megaphone and all. I can tell a lot of love went into this CD. You guys have really grown as songwriters and arrangers. I heard that in the first listen. Congratulations! And sorry it took me so long to write! **Note from AMOS: Catch Michael Sundays at Wonderland Ballroom, where he promotes tons o' fun playing his stuff and hosting local artist showcases. www.michaeljantz.com |

So far I have listened to all but the last two songs off the new CD. The first two tracks ("Just Wanna Be" and "This Could Take a While") were a great choices to set the tone. It's really big sounding. Marco [Delmar, Recording Arts] must have had a blast mixing this and it's right up his alley. The guitars are huge! (I guess that's the Mesa filling the room.)
I was a little disappointed to hear you guys succumb to the "AM radio" EQ trick but I guess that's what the kids want to hear these days! Vocally, Ed is certainly ready to fill the void left by Michael Stipe, especially on "New Town Girl" and "What's Behind the Door." In fact, I noticed a nod to the 80s on a few tracks either in the mix ("Passing Years") or the guitar FX used. Good performances all around and I was pleasantly surprised at the minimal guitar solo breaks. There were lots of cool riffs and tasty bits sprinkled throughout the songs. Nice work! Now let's see you guys get out there and play soon!! ~bc **Note from AMOS: You folks should catch Billy's band when you get the chance; get his very good self-titled CD at www.billycoulter.com. |

Okay, I’ve had the opportunity to spend some time on Easier Said Than Done. My initial response is that I think it’s GREAT.
Favorites are “Reasons” and “Somebody Else’s Little Boy” which are both sad and poignant (I’d love to hear the inspiration behind the lyrics) and “New Town Girl” because of its musicality. You guys definitely have your own sound…. Excellent stuff, AMOS. Consider me a fan. |

"Just Wanna Be":I like it, both in terms of its upbeat diddie way and meaning.
"This Could Take A While": It is clear this voice is the one that gets Ed the ladies. I particularly like the "uh" biznass he grunts out. I realize that sounds patronizing but it's genuine. "What's Behind the Door?": Nice mix of the female voice against Ed's stremphy one. "Signs": Voice fluctuations are impressive, so is the drummin in this one. "Fallen Off": This one really works for me. Kinda tosses together rock and harmony. "Passing Years": This one I was bobbin to from the first listen. Might be my fav. "New Town Girl": I have a fondness for the ice cream man, both the real one and the Eddie Murphy version. "It's Getting Harder" :Good cover...kinda sounds like a rock band doing a Broadway showtune. "Garden of Stone": This one, and the next I like but hate (mainly just b/c I generally don't like to dwell on thoughts of untimely deaths). I think Ed's got a truly amazing ability with that voice of his. And I ain't just whistling Dixie on that. It's soulful and rough at the same time. Impressive the way he can extend out a word and fluctuate through it. I'm sure there's a technical term for it, but hell if I know what that might be. I think the band is quite talented, and the lyrics inspired thou somewhat dark. Kinda interesting the way the dark lyrics are oft matched with somewhat upbeat music. I particularly like the periodic blend in of things like the violin, piano and harmonica setting off the edgy rock. Keep me posted on your next gig, if I'm near the Beltway I promise to act like a groupie. |

"This Could Take a While" is very fun. I think I am most excited when this cut begins, would be the "single" I'd want to hear on radio. I love how deep Ed's voice goes in "My Friends all say...." and enjoy the rhythm to the earlier "Strung up , strung out, living on coffee and cigarettes."
Love the cadence / rhythm to "Would it make a difference if I told you that the world ....." in "Passing Years." I can identify with this piece. "Reasons" makes me laugh. Very nice portrait. Glad the writer didn't marry her. "Fallen Off" is one of my favorite pieces for its imagery -- grain through wood, sunspot bourbon shadow -- and sense of loss. "Somebody Else's Little Boy" just hurts. I don't like hearing it due to its content. I like "It's Getting Harder Every Time." So perky! "Dream Big" has merit. Reminds me of your earlier "Vegas" character. In general, my focus tends to move around the vocals and the lyric content. The instrumentals / band, play background roles to the vocals and the stories being told. Could just be me. I am more a live music person when it comes to enjoying the fullness and depth of a band. Tend to favor rough music; love the rawness of music first performed, not yet tightened up and polished. But I do think on Ed's voice a considerable amount and wonder how far you all can take it. There's lot of strength there. How long can he bellow? Wonder what it sounds like when he push his voice to limits. Impression is it's limitless. Impressions that stick, randomly: clever lyrically, suicide, suicide, was this a mutual friend?, voice, voice, voice, relationship train wrecks, what are these guys really like, who is this man behind the voice? What do they sound like live? Great I bet. |

Here are my first impressions:
“Just Wanna Be” - If I had to pick a “single” to play on the Capital Scene, this would be it -- just a great straight-ahead rocker, certainly better than most of what’s currently being played on the radio. “What’s Behind the Door” - Great tune, I f'ing love Laura’s [Tsaggarris] back-up vocals, so pure, so damn sweet (kinda reminded me of Natalie Merchant at times). I would give my left nut to hear this one live, well not really, but it would certainly be something special to witness. “Fallen Off” - A solid song through and through, I could see this winding-up on an indie-movie soundtrack someday. “This Could Take Awhile” - I could certainly see a live audience going crazy for this one, another fine rocker tune. Boys, this CD was worth the wait, for sure! (Not that you need keep us this long for the next one, mind you) I love the way it kix off hard with the first four trax, then begins a shift with "Signs" and completes the transition with "What's Behind the Door?". I think the band's writing has really grown since the first CD, and I love the softer side that pops up around the excellent rockers on here. Good job!
